Every year, between the November and the following March. Female Bull Sharks come the the shores of Playa Del Carmen to give birth to their young.
Due to the abundance of food in these water’s, this is one of the main reasons why the Sharks migrate to these waters every year. Big Eye Jack’s, Permit’s and Turtles are some of their main food sources.
One of the main reason’s why Bull Shark observation is a safe and fun activity, is due to the crystal clear Caribbean water’s and fantastic visibility. Bull Sharks are aware than humans are not part of their food source. We are generally much larger than anything they eat and the bubbles that come from our regulators are something they are not used to in the wild. So they tend to keep their distance form divers underwater.
Female’s typically grow to be larger than the male’s. However male Bull Sharks have the highest level of testosterone than any other animal on the Planet, giving them the reputation of being one of the most aggressive Sharks on Earth.
