The PADI Open Water Referral Course is great way for those who want to dive abroad. It allows you to complete all your theory and pool modules in your own time at home. This option then allows you to complete you open water dives at a PADI dive centre abroad.
Prerequisites
To sign up for a PADI Open Water Diver course, you must be at least 10 years old. No prior experience with scuba diving is necessary, but you need to be in reasonable physical health.
If the participant answers yes to any of the medical questions listed then a signed clearance from a doctor, valid within 12 months will be required
Academics
The PADI Open Water Diver course consists of three main phases:
- Knowledge Development (online, independent study or in a classroom) to understand basic principles of scuba diving (5 chapters)
- Confined Water Dives to learn basic scuba skills (5 modules)
- Open Water Dives to use your skills and explore (4 dives)

Schedule
The Open Water diver course can be completed in a minimum of 2 days.
- Day 1: Paper work + theory, with quick pool session
- Day 2: 2 ocean dives in Playa del Carmen
- Day 3: 2 ocean dives in Playa del Carmen
Included
- Scuba Equipment + tanks + weight. (BCD, Wetsuit 3mm, Regulator, mask, fins, tanks and weight).
- If you want to start to use your own equipment, you can bring it with you.
- Pool lessons (1 modules)
- 4 ocean dives in Playa del Carmen
- Water and snacks between the dives
